The main character of the novel For One Moment is Herbe. Herbe is
the youngest of three children, who lived with their mother, Grete, in Dresden,
Germany. In his early years his parents divorced, and he and his brother went to
live with his new parents in Koln, Germany. After several extremely stressful
years training to become a priest, he could bear the emotional and religious
corruption no longer and quit to find a different career. His brother Willie
soon died of pneumonia, and Herbe decided to return to his aging mother in
Dresden. Soon he was enrolled into the Nazi party and became of high status,
with Hitler as their leader. Soon after the very adventurous times of war,
emotional turmoil led him to realize that God was his true leader. Soon he
became a Christian and regretted his sinful past. Later he got married to a girl
named Monika, and they moved to America to continue living their newly found
lives for Christ.
